Stylolites consist of a series of relatively small, alternating, interlocked, wave-like
or toothlike columns of stone.
Stylolites are thought to result from differential chemical solution by groundwater
circulating through semiconsolidated or consolidated, hardened rock and occur as a
succession of interpenetrations that in cross section make a zigzag suture across
the face of the stone.
Found in bed rock at the back of the large rocky cove to the west of the 'Secret Beach'
at West Angle.
