A View from Dinas Fawr to the Cliffs above Aber West
A small Spoil Tip from the "St Elvis Silver Mine", can be found on Dinas Fawr
about 20m down from the Coast path .
Bits of Quartz , possibly with minerals can be seen in the spoil , most of which ended
up in the bay below .
A Quartz Vein was worked in this area in the 16th and 17th and later in the 19th century.
The remains of openwork on the cliffs , depressions from shallow shafts and adits may
just be made out.
The Quartz Vein carried Pods of sulphide minerals Galena (Lead Sulphite) ,
Chalcopyrite , Sphalerite and Tetrahedrite (containing about 10% Silver).
