The yellow-grey cliffs (180/200 million years old ), on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast , stretch between Ogmore-by-Sea and Llantwit Major , are formed of a combination of
Lias Limestone and Mudstones (Shales).
The softer shales are eroded at a faster rate than the limestone ,
creating weakness and eventually rock falls
