Sweyne's Howes ( Swine Houses or Sweyn's House ) are two Neolithic Chambered Tombs
on Rhossili Downs.
The name may derive from Sweyne, a Viking, after whom Swansea is supposed to be named .
The Northern Tomb , made of local stone , an oval cairn 18.3m by 13.1m and 0.6m high ,
with an 'inner cairn' and a ruined chamber at its Western end.
The Chamber is formed of two large slabs of stone standing upright , the large capstone has
slipped backwards , the blocking slab has fallen forwards and is lying on the ground between them .

Close by, to the south , is another Chambered Tomb - ruinous - an oval cairn,
20.7m by 14.9m and 0.7m high with an "inner cairn" of more massive stones
