About 200m to the east of the Samuel's Anchor is a gap in a noticeable
upfold in the limestone beds.
On one side the strata dips towards the dry land at about 30/45 degrees ,
on the other side it dips towards the sea .
The Upfold is classed as a "Pericline" , as it dips down at the ends of the fold as well ,
resembling an upturned ships Hull .
