Old Red Sandstone
To the north of Great Furzenip the wave cut platform in the Old Red Sandstone
becomes much smoother.
If the winter storms have scoured the seaweeds from the rocks this view may be seen .
The rock strata is vertical resulting in a succession of bands of sedimentary rocks
including Calcretes / Red Siltstones / Red Mudstones / Conglomerates ...
It is possible to reach this stretch of Coast from Freshwater West Beach when the military
range is closed , but as it is in a military area there may be Unexploded Ordnance !
