A view Northwards towards 'Great Furzenip' Headland.
Distinct bands of hard sandy deposits can be seen in the Eroding Sand Dunes
(Brownslade Burrows) at the back of Frainslake Sands .
The fixed dune grasslands at Brownslade extend up to 1.5km inland.
The bands are formed from sand cemented together with a Calcerous material
(Calcium Carbonate) from Marine organisations .
The thin bands are separated by looser uncemented deposits of wind blown sand.
The cementing process has occurred over a long time - the deposits sit on beach material ,
from around 125,000 years ago , resting on an ancient wave cut platform
