
Over time Stones and Shingle have collected across the mouth of the bay,
forming a Ridge / Esgair with a brackish Lagoon on the landward side.
A weir controls the water level in the lagoon feed by fresh water , and on the highest tides , by the Sea.
The lagoon was formed by the construction of the weir , originally it was salt marsh.
