Arto Estuary - Y Llethr

Follow the lane towards Llanbedr / FP on the left / short length of A496 / FP to Estuary.
The Afon Artro enters the sea at a sizeable tidal estuary between Llandanwg and Mochras/Shell Island. A safe tidal harbour and mooring .
The current estuary was formed following a diversion of the Artro by the Earl of Winchilsea in 1819
to improve access to the wharf at Pensarn - used to ship slate from Llanfair and Llanbedr.
Rhinog Mountains in the distance Y Llethr (754m) , Moelfre (589m) on the right, and Diffwys(750m) behind.
