Blaenau Ffestiniog nestles between the Moelwynion mountains.
Blaenau Ffestiniog is pronounced 'Bly-ner fess-tinny-og'.

In the 1860s, three cable worked inclines were built to link the quarry
(closed finally in 1946) to the road at Tan y Manod.
