A view of Ynys Gored Goch which means Red Weir Island.
An Island in the ‘Swellies’ the narrowest section of the Strait with reversing tidal flows,
rapid currents and swirling whirlpools , a depth of water as low as 1.6ft.
The Island has used weirs to catch fish for centuries.
The two weirs currently on the Island and a smoking chamber were constructed in 1842.
The two buildings on the Island now have pumps to keep the houses from flooding.
