The Castle ruins stand on a small grass plateau in a strategic position near the crossing point of the River Loughor.
An earthworks castle from 1106 , burnt by the Welsh in 1151, replaced in the next century with a stone curtain wall and a Stone Tower.
The Tower along with the foundations of curtain walls survive.
