A series of holes , 15 in this rock , drilled in by Quarrymen. The holes could be partly loaded
with gunpowder and ignited to make explosive sounds during traditional celebrations.
Used in festivities in the North Wales Quarrying areas from the 19th century.
The holes were often linked by channels cut in the rock and filled with gunpowder.
At this location fat was spread on the rock surface and sprinkled with powder to connect the holes.
This Cannon is close to the Trig Point on the western peak of Moel-y-Gest .
