A view from Mynydd Gwyddal (99m) , at the western end of the Llyn, over the coastal fields.
Much of the landscape at the tip of the Llyn Peninsula was under arable cultivation during the Middle Ages,
and the traditional field boundaries - stone walls and cloddiau (earth banks) are a prominent feature
Cloddiau are hedges (dykes /embankments) with a dry stone outer and an earth / earth rubble core.
The hedges are colonised with a range of plants and the core can be a haven for small mammals.
