Aberystwyth Castle / War Memorial
Aberystwyth Castle (1289) was built by King Edward I as part of his campaign against the Welsh.
Oliver Cromwell took the castle in 1646 and slighted it in 1649.

The spectacular Memorial , commemorates the local people who died in the First and Second World Wars.
The winged figure standing on a Globe represents Victory, alighting on the Earth , with news of Victory and Peace.
The naked lower Sculpture depicts Humanity emerging from the horrors of War.

Both the Memorial and extensive Castle ruins are on Castle Hill.
