Limestone aggregates from Raynes Quarry (originally known as Llysfaen Limeworks) are transported by conveyor belts to a jetty, crossing the A55 and Railway to be loaded onto coastal freighters.
Concrete units known as a ‘Dolos’ augment the Rock Sea defences in this area. They weigh about 5 tons . 22,000 were cast and used in the 1983/4 coast protection works. It makes reaching the beach difficult.
