Tenby is a town steeped in ancient history surrounded by an imposing medieval stone wall.
In the early nineteenth century wealthy visitors began visiting the town for the health
benefits they believed the resort offered.
Arriving by coach or by sea via Bristol for the season, which extended from
May to October.
In 1866 with the arrival of the Great Western Railway , Tenby became a fashionable
holiday destination for both the Welsh and the English , a seaside resort,
where Victorians tried the popular pastime of sea bathing .
