Looking over the embankment , from a viewpoint - Boncan Eithin ,
of 'The Cob' , carrying the Ffestiniog Railway . and the A497 road.
Crossing the sands here was very dangerous before The Cob was built .
The Cob is a mile long causeway crossing the Afon Glaslyn Estuary / Traeth Mawr (The Big Beach)
On the seaward side the original embankment is from 1808/11
It carried the narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway line in 1836 ,
when the lower embankment was built for the turnpike road.
