Ynysypandy is an impressive three-storeyed building , resembling a ruined abbey .

It was built to process Slate from the Gorseddau Quarry in 1856/7.
The mill specialised in the production of Slate slabs rather than roofing slates.
A tramway was built from the Quarry to the Mill and then down to Porthmadog.
The business closed in 1871 , due to the poor quality of the Slate it was quarrying.
One of the Welsh Slate Industry architecturally ambitious buildings .
