Top Pic Left - View passed ruined farmstead to Gorseddau Slate Quarry.
Top Pic Right - The ‘wailing wall’ , one part of what would have become a corbelled archway to protect the horse drawn tramway
from an encroaching tip of waste.
Lower Pic Left - A view of the quarry , opened 1807 , main period of working was between 1854 and 1857.
The slate was easily accessible but of poor quality.
The quarry was developed from 1855 on 'a no expense spared' basis , but never made a profit and the venture collapsed in 1867.
Lower Pic Right - The ruined Stable and Barracks. Other elements off this expensive venture
were The Ynyspandy Slab Mill and the now ruined workers housing at Treforus SH 560 464
