Lower Pic Left - A view of the quarry , opened 1807 , main period of working was between 1854 and 1857.
The slate was easily accessible but of poor quality. SH 5715 4512
The quarry was developed from 1855 on 'a no expense spared' basis , but never made a profit and the venture collapsed in 1867.
