A Maltese seaman Joseph Rogers (Guize Ruggiers) who managed to rig a bosun's chair to shore.
Looking in the opposite direction is a depiction of the ship wrecked on the rocks.
On 26th October 1859 The Royal Charter a steam clipper on a Melbourne - Liverpool voyage
laden with Gold ,was wrecked with only 39 survivors and the loss of least
459 of the passengers and crew . The Great Storm of 1859 wrecked 133 Ships.
