In 1953 the Octel Amlwch plant was created to produce a chemical made from bromine called dibromoethane,
used an anti-knock additive in leaded petrol engines and military aircraft.
The plant closed in 2004 .The Water Tower is a prominent local landmark.
The Coast Path moves inland around the perimeter fence to Amlwch Port.
