Situated in the stretch of the Menai Strait , between the bridges , called the Swellies .
The tides have a dramatic effect on the Island , noted for the two large stone weirs that form
one of the best preserved fishing traps in the region.
Ynys Gored Goch may have supplied fresh fish and smoked herring to monasteries from the 13th century.
