Ffynnon Lloer (altitude 654m) in Cwm Lloer below Pen yr Ole Wen (978m).
A 6 acre lake , the highest fishable lake in Wales , with a population of brown trout up to 1lb.
The mountain lakes in the Carneddau Range are “Ffynnons” rather than “Llyns”
Pen yr Ole Wen is the most southerly mountain in the Carneddau range
and the seventh highest mountain in Snowdonia.
Ffynnon Lloer translates into English as 'Well of the Moon' , or 'Source of the Moon'.
