
A view from a slate tip over one of the Quarries now filled with water.The Engine House is above ,
overlooked by the West Pyramid, with it's ruined engine house for the chain inclines.Snowdon in the distance.
The "Pyramids" were built because at Dorothea Quarry (1820-1970) the deep pits required waste to be hauled from great depths.
Dorothea was named after the wife of the landowner Richard Garnons.
The site is to the East of the A487 and villages Penygroes and Talysarn .
P at a roundabout . Along the track a Board shows the layout and paths of the area.
A path to the right with a kissing gate heads towards the Engine House and this viewpoint.
