A view over the Barracks for Cedryn Quarry to Llyn Eigiau . Cedryn was a small Quarry (1827 /1868 ) .The Horseshoe Path passes by.
Slate from the quarry was originally transported by pack horse to the quays on the river Conwy at Dolgarrog,
then a four-mile-long horse-powered tramway opened from the Quarry to Porth Llwyd Wharf.
Around 1863 the Cedryn Quarry Tramway was extended by a mile westwards to serve the Cwm Eigiau Slate Quarry
The path passes a giant wall which crosses the valley .
It was a dam built in the early 20th century to supply water to a hydro-powered aluminium factory in the Conwy Valley.
The dam broke in 1925, with disastrous results for the village of Dolgarrog
