The Atlantic Slab / Carnedd y Filiast
The Atlantic Slab / Carnedd y Filiast

Named because of the rippled nature of the cliff face.
Ripples were formed on an Atlantic Ocean Beach by waves or fast flowing water.
When buried the sand sediments lose water and become cemented to form rock.
The coarse-grained sandstone rock was then uplifted by tectonic forces.
------------------
Route - Park at the end of the lane heading from Christ Church , Deiniolen (off the A4244)
Then a long walk on a tarmac road past Marchlyn Bach and Mawr reservoirs to the
path up Carnedd y Filiast. The Slab is near a ladder stile in a Mighty Stone Wall.
