Pen-y-Bryn Slate Quarry
Top Pic - A view from a slate tip of the Quarries Mill , which has a drumhouse attached to its gable end .
The Smithy is the nearest building.The quarry closed in 1969. SH 5060 5368
Lower Pic Left - a tunnel for the Horse Drawned Tramway (1828-1963) . The cutting and tunnel are close to the Path. SH 5051 5335
Lower Pic Right - the ruins of Pen-y-Bryn Lower mill , the DeWinton engine that drove the mill can to be seen at the back of the Slate Museum
Park as for the Dorothea Quarry . After passing the tunnel and before two massive bridge abutments take the Slate Trail path
on the left , passing ruined buildings including the Lower Mill. SH 5024 5342
